My Journey from Lifelong Depression to Self-Love

I have struggled with depression for most of my life. After my divorce, it became even harder to see my worth, and toxic relationships only reinforced my feelings of unworthiness. I felt lost, but through God’s guidance, I found the strength to heal and rebuild my life.

Steps That Helped Me Heal:

1. Seeking Support: I reached out to trusted friends, counselors, and support groups. Talking to others who understood my struggles helped me feel less alone.

2. Prioritizing Self-Care: I began setting boundaries and making time for activities that brought me peace, like hiking and journaling. Taking care of myself became a daily practice.

3. Shifting My Mindset: Through prayer and reflection, I worked on recognizing and challenging self-doubt. Instead of letting negative thoughts define me, I reminded myself of the love and purpose God has for me.

4. Rediscovering Joy: As I healed, I reconnected with things that made me feel alive. Nature became a place of renewal, and I learned to appreciate the small moments of peace and happiness.

Healing wasn’t quick or easy, and depression didn’t disappear overnight. But over time, I learned how to manage it, embrace self-love, and trust in God’s plan for me. If you’re struggling, know that you are not alone. With faith, support, and self-care, healing is possible.

Reflection Questions:

• Have you ever gone through a period where you felt lost? What helped you move forward?

• How has faith or spirituality played a role in your healing?

• What self-care practices help you feel more grounded?
